Our story
An English school that opened its doors
Chiang Mai Volunteer Life is run by the team behind Brainstorm Language House (บ้านภาษาเบรนสตรอม), an English school based in Chiang Mai. Our learners are Thai children, teenagers and adults who want to gain confidence speaking English — and the best way to build that confidence is regular, relaxed conversation with real English speakers.
That is why we opened our volunteer house in Mae Wang to international visitors. Volunteers join learners in online conversation sessions, live in the countryside with us, and take part in local Thai life. The exchange is simple: your time and your English, our home and our community.

Who we're looking for
You don't need to be a qualified teacher
- Aged 18 or over
- Able to communicate clearly and confidently in English (native or non-native)
- Punctual and responsible — you keep to the agreed session schedule
- Comfortable talking with both children and adults
- Basic computer skills, since sessions are online
- Respectful of Thai culture and the local community
- Happy to live and share a house with other volunteers
- No TEFL/TESOL or teaching qualification needed — but very welcome if you have one

- The volunteer program — there is no program fee
- Accommodation at the volunteer house

- Flights, travel insurance and visa costs
- Travel to and from Mae Wang
- Personal expenses and trips on your days off
- A 200 THB refundable housekeeping deposit (not a fee)
